Château du Pouey
Located in the South-West, Château du Pouey is a family estate situated on south and south-east facing slopes, overlooking the Pyrenees mountain range. The vineyard now spans approximately 22 hectares, having started with a much smaller area.
The estate played a pioneering role in introducing grape varieties such as Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng to the region. The vines are managed using sustainable viticulture practices, with particular attention paid to preserving natural balances and ensuring consistent ripeness. The soils, composed of clay and gravel, provide favorable conditions for diverse expressions, depending on the plots and their exposures.
The wines are crafted with a focus on richness and indulgence, without seeking standardization. The winemaking and aging processes are designed to preserve the fruit’s expression and the varietal character of the grapes, resulting in a range of styles from supple, fruity wines to more structured vintages.
Today, the estate focuses on targeted distribution to wine merchants, restaurants, and specialty grocery stores, prioritizing quality over quantity. All of Château du Pouey’s work is part of a family-driven approach that emphasizes the preservation of the vineyard and the faithful expression of its Southwestern terroir.
