Madiran | Red | 2021

The vines for this Tannat wine thrive on hillsides with rich soils, a blend of clay, silt, and gravel, benefiting from a southeast exposure. The winemaking process combines harvesting at perfect ripeness, cold pre-fermentation maceration, and controlled fermentation. Aging for 15 to 18 months in cement tanks softens the tannins while enhancing the fruity aromas. The result is a velvety texture with a refined structure, reflecting meticulous work at every stage of production.

Our opinion on the vintage

At first glance, a deep purple robe is revealed. The nose is an explosion of candied raspberry mingled with notes of black cherry and toasted vanilla. On the palate, the experience is round and enveloping, marked by finely crafted tannins. Aromas of black fruit and toasted oak unfold harmoniously. The finish, particularly fleshy, allows blackcurrant and hints of toast and caramel to express themselves. An opulent wine that blossoms magnificently with dishes from Southwest France and oriental flavors.

Château du Pouey

Château du Pouey

Sud-Ouest | France

Located in the Southwest, Château du Pouey is a family estate situated on south and southeast-facing slopes overlooking the Pyrenees mountain range. The vineyard now covers approximately 22 hectares, having started on a much smaller area.

The estate played a pioneering role in introducing grape varieties such as Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng to the region. The vines are cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices, with particular attention paid to preserving natural balances and ensuring consistent ripening. The soils, composed of clay and gravel, offer ideal conditions for a variety of expressions, depending on the plot and its exposure.

The wines are crafted with a focus on lusciousness and controlled richness, without striving for standardization. Vinification and aging are carried out to preserve the expression of the fruit and the typicity of the grape varieties, offering profiles ranging from supple and fruity wines to more structured cuvées.
