Domaine du Pavillon

Located on the hillsides of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, Domaine du Pavillon spans approximately 14 hectares of vineyards, planted on the well-exposed slopes of the Rhône’s left bank. This area enjoys a distinct northern Rhône climate, which promotes gradual ripening and helps preserve freshness, particularly for Syrah.

Before being dedicated to viticulture, the site was home to a family farm surrounded by orchards. In the 1960s, the fruit trees were gradually replaced by vineyards, while the farm buildings were converted into a barrel cellar. The estate takes its name from the former hunting lodge overlooking the hillsides, which has become an iconic landmark of the area.

The vineyard is now managed by the Audibert family, who pay particular attention to the old Syrah vines, the estate’s signature grape variety. The soils and topography yield grapes that are both ripe and structured, without being overly heavy. The estate primarily produces two wines: a red made from Syrah and a white, both in a style true to the identity of Crozes-Hermitage.

In the cellar, winemaking follows a classic, controlled approach, with measured extraction and barrel aging designed to give the wines structure without masking the fruit. The reds offer generous body, noticeable yet well-integrated tannins, and aromas marked by black fruits and the spicy notes typical of northern Syrah. The white wine offers a fuller profile, supported by a balancing freshness.

Domaine du Pavillon offers a traditional and consistent interpretation of Crozes-Hermitage, rooted in the estate’s family history and a respect for the terroir’s natural balance. These structured and expressive wines are designed to be enjoyed with food and to age gracefully, remaining true to the spirit of the great wines of the northern Rhône Valley.
