Everything You Need to Know About Domaine Fournier Père & Fils

Established in 1926 in the hamlet of Chaudoux, within the commune of Verdigny, Domaine Fournier Père & Fils stands as one of the historic estates of the Sancerre appellation. The vineyard currently extends over approximately 39 hectares, distributed among 165 plots scattered across the various hills and slopes of the appellation area.

This fragmentation of plots enables the estate to work with the three major Sancerre terroir types — limestone, marl, and flint — providing a diversity of soils, exposures, and microclimates. This balanced distribution is a crucial factor for ensuring the consistency and complexity of the wines, vintage after vintage.

Vineyard management follows an environmentally conscious approach, with practices certified High Environmental Value (HVE) and Vignerons Engagés. The cultivation of soils and vines aims to preserve the plant's natural balance and the distinct expression of the terroirs, without resorting to excessive technical enhancements.

In the cellar, the winemaking process aims to faithfully reflect the characteristics of each specific vineyard site while ensuring overall consistency. The blending and oenological supervision, coordinated by Damien Laurent, bring the different vintages together under a common style based on precision, balance, and consistency.

The wines of Domaine Fournier Père & Fils thus offer a comprehensive and structured exploration of the Sancerre appellation—rooted in its history, attentive to the diversity of its terroirs, and crafted to complement fine dining.
