Located on the hills above Le Beausset, just a few kilometers from Bandol, Domaine La Font des Pères is nestled amid a landscape of steep terraces, painstakingly shaped over the centuries. Here, the vines are inseparable from their surroundings: they adapt to the slopes, the stone, and the light, in an environment as demanding as it is spectacular.
The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century, when Observant monks settled on these lands, rich in natural springs. There, they cultivated food crops and planted the first vineyards, giving the place its name: “la Font” for the water, and “les Pères” for those who worked the land. This historical dimension continues to shape the estate’s identity, which is deeply rooted in its surroundings.
This modern-day adventure began in 2010, when Caroline and Philippe Chauvin fell in love with this hidden gem. Having originally been more familiar with the sea than with the land, they immediately recognized the potential of the terroir and its exposure. The 6 hectares of vineyards, clinging to the hillsides, are gradually being restored using a careful approach that respects the terrain and the natural environment.
The wines are now produced under the Bandol, Côtes de Provence, and IGP Mont-Caume appellations, with the entire estate managed using organic farming methods. The wines reflect the sunny character of the region while maintaining a solid structure: they are bold and well-structured, with a welcome freshness that directly reflects the work done on the soil and the relative elevation of the plots.
But La Font des Pères is about more than just wine. The estate is developing a holistic approach to the art of hospitality, where wine tasting, fine dining, and the landscape are in constant harmony. The farmhouse restaurant, nestled in the heart of the vineyards, offers cuisine designed as a natural extension of the wines: straightforward, rooted in the ingredients, and free of pretension.
