This wine has played a role in history on several occasions: the vineyard once belonged to an order of knights, and it was the subject of discussion between Louis XIII and Richelieu during a civil war… Fronton wine has stood the test of time so that this blend of several grape varieties—including the distinctive Cot, Gamay, Fer-Servadou, Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mérille—can reach you today. The Négrette grape is also cultivated here with particular pride. Many of these great wines have won awards, thanks in large part to the unique character of Négrette! In fact, these wines clearly remind us of their Toulouse roots! To the north of the city, on soils that are low in limestone—sandy-clay or gravelly—the terroir allows for the production of red and rosé wines exclusively, spanning 2,400 hectares of vineyards. The rosés are best enjoyed young, while the red is a medium-ageing wine that can be cellared for up to 5 years. Depending on the dominant grape variety, the reds can be rich in black fruit aromas (blackcurrant, blackberry), with pronounced tannins and notes of violet and licorice. The finesse of the rosé is accompanied by a lovely length, which does not disappoint in terms of freshness. It features aromas of red fruits with hints of citrus.
