All about Limoux

It is in the Aude department that this distinctive appellation produces still wines and is renowned for its effervescence: Crémant, Blanquette de Limoux, or Limoux wine – the selection is extensive! Across 1,400 hectares of clay and limestone soils, the climate is unique. Mediterranean influences are limited by natural barriers to the east, while the oceanic climate from the west has a slight impact. Blanquette de Limoux and Crémant de Limoux are produced from Mauzac vines; the typical grape varieties of the region are Chardonnay and Chenin. Still red wines are primarily made from Merlot, with prune aromas dominating.
