Zurab Topuridze

Guria | Georgia

Iberieli is a family-run Georgian winery led by Zurab Topuridze, with vineyards located in the regions of Guria in western Georgia and Kakheti in the east. The name “Iberieli,” chosen by Zurab’s children, refers to an ancient Caucasian people considered to be among the first to practice winemaking in buried amphorae called kvevri, an ancestral method still used here.

The estate cultivates indigenous Georgian grape varieties such as Rkatsiteli, Kisi, Mtsvane Kakhuri, Khikhvi, Chkhaveri, and Saperavi on mineral-rich soils, using natural viticultural practices that are often certified by the Natural Wine Association. The wines are vinified with long macerations in traditional amphorae, without modern additives, to highlight the pure expression of the grapes and Georgian terroirs.

Iberieli’s wines span a variety of styles—reds, rosés, orange wines, and others—and reflect the authenticity of traditional Georgian wine, offering a unique range of flavors that celebrate the country’s millennia-old winemaking traditions.
