Champagne Enfant de la Montagne Extra Brut

Champagne | Blanc | NM

This Extra Brut Premier Cru cuvée is crafted by the family-owned Bertrand-Delespierre house, located in Chamery, at the heart of the Montagne de Reims. It results from a meticulous blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier, sourced exclusively from Premier Cru parcels in the villages of Chamery, Écueil, Villedommange, and Montbré. The cuvée ages for 4 to 5 years on fine lees, with a very low dosage of approximately 2–3 g/l, which imparts a clear, fresh, and authentic expression of the Champagne terroir.

Our Review of the Cuvée

From the initial contact, the nose reveals an alluring complexity, with delicate aromas of white fruits and pastry. On the palate, 'Enfant de la Montagne' offers a vibrant attack, characteristic of champagnes not subjected to malolactic fermentation, which preserves exceptional freshness. The silky texture, attributed to extended aging on lees, gradually unfolds to reveal subtle notes of brioche and almond. The finish is elegant, driven by a beautiful tension and minerality that evoke the Premier Cru origin of the parcels. A perfect champagne for grand occasions or to elevate a refined dinner.

Located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Chamery, Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 by our parents, Chantal and Didier Bertrand, both children of winemakers. Two generations now work side-by-side on the estate, as Adrien and Clémence are determined to continue their family's winemaking tradition. The family cultivates nearly 10 hectares of family vineyards located in the communes of Chamery, Ecueil, Villedommange, and Montbré, four villages among the 44 classified as Premier Crus in Champagne. The three main Champagne grape varieties are cultivated within the vineyard: two black varieties, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and one white variety, Chardonnay. However, all yield a white juice when pressed at the estate using the traditional press. Burgundian and Champenois barrels are used for the fermentation and aging of certain wines. ... Read more
