Châteauneuf-Du-Pape | Red | 2019

Le Songe de Catherine is a wine from a specific plot in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where 60-year-old vines flourish on a unique soil of limestone slabs. This rare composition gives the wine remarkable freshness and elegance, complementing its balanced structure. Made from Grenache grapes, the wine is vinified using indigenous yeasts, with fermentation in concrete tanks, followed by aging in demi-muids for up to 24 months.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the first sniff, Le Songe de Catherine opens with delicately fruity aromas, reminiscent of ripe red berries, with a subtle touch of garrigue. On the palate, the texture is silky and enveloping, gradually revealing spicy notes and a minerality that recalls the original limestone soil. The breadth of the Grenache is magnificently expressed, offering a fresh attack and a long, elegant finish. Each sip unveils a little more of the complexity of this Châteauneuf-du-Pape, encouraging slow tasting to fully appreciate its nuances.

Located in the heart of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Duseigneur draws on a long family history and a vineyard of approximately thirty hectares. The plots, planted largely with Grenache, include vines aged from 50 to over 100 years, spread across several appellations of the southern Rhône.

The estate has been managed biodynamically since 2002 and is a member of Biodyvin. This approach is based on careful work with the soil, the vines, and the natural balance, with the aim of preserving the vitality of the vineyard and the clarity of the terroir. Grenache plays a central role in the grape varieties planted, cultivated with a focus on purity and precision of expression.

The winemaking process aims to faithfully express the characteristics of the terroirs, with measured extractions and aging tailored to the desired profiles. The wines prioritize balance and depth over power, allowing time to play its ... Lire plus
