Château Fleur La Mothe is located in the commune of Saint Yzans du Médoc, 20km north of Pauillac. Most of our plots see the river, which ensures good thermal regulation and protects the vineyard from spring frosts. Each year, additional efforts are made in the vineyard to improve quality. All these efforts concerning the commitment of vines cultivated in sustainable viticulture were crowned in 2016 with the TERRA VITIS and AREA certifications. Our 15 hectares in one piece, composed of plots of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdots, are on hills called "Croupes de Graves"; moreover Mothe in Médoc patois means "bute". This alchemy of nature combined with the work of men makes it possible to obtain wines of great finesse.
Three oenologists united by a common passion: making their own wine. In May 2008, Antoine Médeville, Edouard Massie and Henri Boyer, three consulting oenologists known and recognized for their skills and professionalism that they have been practising for 20 years, decided to move to the other side of the barrier and became owners with the acquisition of a 15 hectare vineyard located on the Saint-Yzans plateau in the Médoc appellation. With their experience in viticulture and oenology consulting, the 3 oenologists set themselves a challenge: to make one of the best wines of the appellation by optimising the qualities of the terroir and by using their know-how. Very quickly they set up a quality policy, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and presented their first vintage, the 2008. They choose a contemporary and sober label that reflects the image of their wine that combines tradition and modernism.
A little anecdote between us: The 3 oenologists, Antoine Médeville, Edouard Massie and Henri Boyer, advise more than 250 winegrowers in the Bordeaux region all year round, whether in the vineyards or in the cellars. The fact of making their own wine is therefore a real double-edged challenge, they are in the line of sight of the properties they consult, including great classified growths!
