The Domaine Bernatas is two brothers who have decided to return as close as possible to their Cathar roots to produce terroir wines, respectful of nature. A project that has become a reality after each of them has pursued a career in the written press. Our small vineyard (7 hectares) is spread out in the surroundings of Limoux (La Digne d'Amont, Castelreng and Magrie). It is spread over six hillside plots with clay-limestone soils, at altitudes of between 250 and 410 metres. We have favoured northern exposure to keep the freshness in our wines. Biodynamics guides us in our work both in the vineyard and in the cellar: adaptation to the environment, no pesticides or oenological products, minimal doses of SO2. We mainly produce white wines in AOP Limoux (mauzac, chardonnay and chenin in plot-based vintages), but also reds (merlot in plot-based vintages, cabernet sauvignon merlot aramon blend).

Our story

Often devalued, mauzac flourishes in Limoux and remains the emblematic grape variety, the basis of the famous Blanquette de Limoux. By vinifying the grapes from our plot in Le Pla as a red wine, we have created the cuvée M and us. An atypical white wine that can be enjoyed with a meal. On the nose, it expresses scents of candied lemon, citrus flowers, star jasmine, spices? On the palate, we find the minerality of the rolled pebbles of the Pla, power and fine tannins.

Other little stories

The Pyrenean foothills offer breathtakingly pure landscapes. The Limoux vineyard has been renowned for centuries, particularly for its white wines. It is here, near the town where we were born, at the foot of the mountains where our ancestors rest, that we decided to create our estate. With the desire to vinify the grapes from our vines alone to serve clean wines, as natural as possible and whose character and aromas reveal the character of each parcel.
