After a few years without a winemaker, the estate taken over by Patricia Alexandre (former director of Gault Millau) is now undergoing a complete overhaul, following a complete restructuring of the vineyard and the creation of high-level technical facilities. The 26 hectares in production are cultivated in an eco-friendly way, on a beautiful terroir facing south for the Ventoux and north for the Luberon.
Planted with the great grape varieties of the Rhône Valley, the estate produces gourmet red wines, round and fruity; in white, it offers an original palette which, with the advice of Philippe Cambie (named best oenologist in the world by Robert Parker in 2010), enables the creation of very pretty white wines with a distinctive personality. The estate also produces gourmet rosés. Finally, the estate has five apartments for those who want to experience a stay in the heart of a vineyard.
It is in the epicentre of the Luberon, between Gordes and l'Isle sur la Sorgue, that we settled in 2012 for an extraordinary adventure: to give new life to a wine estate with great potential but whose vines had never been used to produce quality wines. This adventure was described as a stroke of madness by a good number of visitors when they saw the extent of the work we had embarked on, whether it was the renovation of the fortified farm, the construction of a wine storehouse or the restructuring of the vineyard... In four years, what a long way we've come... A constantly renewed happiness for us to welcome you to the estate, to make you discover our wines, to welcome you in our gîtes and invite you to join us around the many events organised throughout the year, Welcome to Domaine des Peyre!
Crossed by the Via Domitia, a major grape-growing area for 3,000 years, the estate boasts a magnificent 11th-century chapel, and recent archaeological digs have uncovered numerous remains of Roman houses. These are just a few examples of how important the heritage of the past is. All the region's economic activity was concentrated here, thanks to a number of essential factors: the presence of water, the quality of the terroir, accessibility; even back then, vine-growing was a major activity. Now it's our turn to showcase the richness of this terroir, which you'll find in our wines.
In addition to being rated 3 feuilles de vignes by Inter Rhône for the quality of our cellar and our welcome to visitors, this year we received the coveted "wine tourism distinction" awarded by Inter Rhône in partnership with Atout France for all our services. We take care of you, and this is just the beginning...
