After having worked in the export and promotion of wine in France and then in Dubai, Eric Santier decided to become a winemaker. After training in Bordeaux and a few rich experiences with other winemakers, he took over Domaine Dozon. Eric then returned to Chinon, his hometown, and rediscovered the values that are essential to him, starting with respect for nature.
L'histoire d'Eric is the story of a globetrotter from Chinon who returned to his roots to make true Loire wines! After working in wine export and promotion in France and Dubai, Eric Santier decided to become a winemaker in his forties. After training in Bordeaux and gaining valuable experience with other winemakers, he took over Domaine Dozon. The 14-hectare estate is located at Saut au Loup in Ligré, on the left bank of the Vienne, in the Chinon appellation. Spread over two types of soil, clay-siliceous at the top of the slopes and clay-limestone at the bottom, the single vineyard faces south-southeast. Owned by the DOZON family for 5 generations, the estate was taken over by Eric Santier in 2013.
"The takeover of this domain represents for me a double return to the roots. After having lived successively in Burgundy, the Var, Paris and Dubai, I am back in Chinon, my native city. But it is also a return to values that are essential to me: respect for the earth. The wine grower's profession is a truly complete profession that requires technique, working the land, selling and communicating."
