A young winemaker at the helm of his own estate, Olivier Legranger founded Domaine du Colibri in 2016. He owns 10 hectares of sustainable vineyards in the Ventoux appellation. All methods are based on soil protection to limit environmental impact.

Our story

Nestled between the Dentelles de Montmirail and the shadow of Mont Ventoux, our 10-hectare estate stretches around the commune of Caromb in the Ventoux PDO. Our limestone soils are planted with a majority of red grape varieties typical of the region, as well as three white grape varieties. This enables us to limit our impact on the environment by adapting our interventions in the vineyard to its real needs. The aim is to encourage microbial life in the soil, enabling the growth and maintenance of organic matter, the basis of fertile soil. "One day there was a huge forest fire. All the animals, terrified and dismayed, watched helplessly as the disaster unfolded. Only the little hummingbird was active, fetching a few drops with its beak to throw on the fire. After a while, the armadillo, annoyed by this ridiculous agitation, said to him: "Hummingbird! Are you crazy? You're not going to put out the fire with those drops of water!" And the hummingbird replied, "I know that, but I'm doing my bit." Olivier was born in the Aisne at the end of the 80s, and chose the oenological path for his studies. Having obtained a BTS in Viticulture-Œnologie in Champagne, followed by a degree in wine marketing in Montpellier, he decided to set off on a voyage of discovery of other wine-making practices, after holding several positions of responsibility in various French wineries.Olivier settled in the United States, then Australia and New Zealand, before returning to France in 2014 with the aim of setting up his own estate in the southern Rhône Valley. As it was difficult to access vines for a start-up, Olivier succeeded in acquiring 10 hectares of vines in the Ventoux appellation as a Young Farmer in 2016.
