The domain's short story
Over the years, I've immersed myself in the expression and spirit of our terroir, bringing out the best each year and ensuring the longevity of the wines and terroir I've fallen in love with. Some of these wines have even won medals and awards. The Domaine, voted "Winemaker of the Year 2017" in the Alsace region by the Guide Hachette des Vins, is geographically located 5Km from Colmar to the south of Eguisheim, with a vineyard of around 7.5Ha, owned by the family for 3 generations now. In order to preserve the richness of the soil, we use a "lutte raisonnée" method to avoid all unnecessary non-organic inputs. We even use sexual confusion to avoid the use of pesticides. Our vines are naturally grassed, and for the most part planted in alternate rows to take advantage of the best exposure until harvest. We take care of each grape variety as if it were a Grand Cru appellation, with the same care as organic winegrowers without claiming it. As a producer and harvester, we age our own wines in our cellars, so that they are fruit-driven, as if each drop of wine were a grape crunching in the mouth. Our entry-level wines are rather dry. For the other cuvées, the wines are more round and generous, thanks to the vines planted on a clay-marl limestone soil and a place called "Bildstoecklé", which together bring their own specificities. This enables us to offer you a wide range of gastronomic choices, as well as rounder and more subtle wines to delight your taste buds. For lovers of slightly more tannic wines or those with woody notes, some of our wines are even matured in wooden barrels in the famous cellar of the Hospices de Strasbourg, home to the oldest wine in the world dating back to 1472.
