(39) Jura

We are located in the Revermont Jura, more precisely in Arlay. On more or less gentle hills, at an altitude of 230 to 350 m with exposures that go from the South-East to the West. Our soils are calcareous, composed of red clay and white and blue marls, lias and trias. We produce all the Jura grape varieties, namely : Trousseau, Poulsard, Pinot, Chardonnay and Savagnin. And every year we have always harvested by hand. We have been cultivating our vines biodynamically for 15 years. This produces natural, very well-balanced wines that are pleasant to drink. Tradition dictates that these wines are matured for several years in old oak barrels. This ageing process allows the powerful Jura terroir to transmit unique and different aromas, giving very typical, robust and lively wines.

Our story

5 centuries of vine cultivation in the Jura!

Since 1579, our family has been cultivating the Jura lands to extract traditional wines. This passion passed on from generation to generation still drives us!

After their grandfather Jean and their father Christian, it is Jean-François and Jean-Philippe who take over the Domaine in 1990. First they increased the surface area of the vineyard from 4 to 10 ha, then they decided to convert the entire estate to Biodynamic viticulture and finally they developed the export of the wines all over the world.

In 2018, it is Laura who returns after several experiences in France and abroad. She first decides to go back to school, studying oenology at the Institut de la Vigne et du Vin Jules Guyot in Dijon while learning alongside her uncle and her father. Observing and redoing until she gets there... in the vineyard and the winery and she admits she loves it!

Today we are a team of 5 passionate people but always in search of "doing better". Like all the generations before her, Laura brings her own "label" and so since the 2018 harvest, she has created a range of natural wines ... adding a little feminine touch.

Other little stories

Rare and prestigious grands crus!
Thanks to our ancestors, we now have a wine library of old vintages that we can offer to our customers !! With each discovery, they amaze by their youth and finesse !

The choice of biodynamics !
Aware of the current ecological stakes, and wishing to give the best of our Jura terroir, in the respect of the land that has been passed on to us, we chose, in 2006, to convert the entire estate to biodynamic farming. And it is with pride that we obtained the Demeter label in 2010.

The Domaine Bourdy logo!
A glass and a moustache... These two words sum up pretty well the "basics" on which the Domaine was created, but the funny thing is that since November 2020, with the arrival of a new head of cultivation, women are taking over the Domaine.
