Anecdotes about the domain
The life of a winemaker is passionately varied! Each vintage is different. It is a pleasure to see the result of the work we have done throughout the year. The passion for wine and vineyards came from my parents who passed it on to me through their work.
The domain's short story
Since our childhood, we have lived the vineyard and the wine. They are our roots. The story begins in Cairanne with Edmond Rabasse around 1890. He bought the first 3 hectares of the estate. At that time, he had two jobs, hatter and winegrower. Around 1925, his son, my great-grandfather, Marcel Rabasse, who was an electrician and winegrower, took over the vineyard and added 5 hectares of vines and olive trees. Then in 1950, Jeanine Rabasse, my grandmother, married Abel Charavin. They took over the vineyard together. To the vines of Cairanne were added the vines of Rasteau, where my grandfather was born. The property then extends over 20 hectares. In 1984, Corinne, my mother, took over. My father, Jean Paul Couturier, who does not work on the estate, but who comes from a family of winegrowers, also contributes to the exploitation of the vines of Plan de Dieu and Violès. In 1993, I joined the team.
The winemaker's pride
The Domain extends over 40ha. It has been in the family for 5 generations. The vineyard is located on several appellations: Vin de France, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu, Cairanne and Rasteau. The harvest is entirely manual. The estate is in conversion to organic farming and is certified High Environmental Value.
