All our winemakers in BordeauxThe Médoc is a flagship appellation for great Bordeaux wines! This wine-growing region is divided in two with Haut-Médoc in the south and Bas-Médoc in the north. The AOC Haut-Médoc is a vineyard located in the immediate vicinity of the six municipal appellations (Margaux, Saint-Estèphe, Moulis-en-Médoc, Listrac-Médoc, Pauillac and Saint-Julien).
The blend of Merlot (the main grape variety of the AOC), with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc produces wines renowned for their balance. The AOC Médoc covers 5,500 hectares and the terroir is composed of two different soils: the elegance and finesse of these wines depend on clay and limestone soils, while wines made from gravel give a more robust taste. Tannins can reduce the final degree of the wine. To the eye, the Médoc wines are noted for their deep ruby colour. The colour sometimes turns purple or garnet. On the nose, these fine wines are known for their aromatic richness: red fruits, candied and dried fruits, spices, jam, cocoa, liquorice... These red wines are powerful and full-bodied, revealing a roundness as well as a remarkable length on the palate. Generally, they can be enjoyed young (about four years old), but they have a good ageing potential (six to ten years) which can be indicated by roasted coffee aromas. They are generally served with roasted or grilled beef and game.
