All our winemakers in BuzetThere are not only prunes in Agen! In this wine-growing region, the Buzet appellation stands out: it blends the grape varieties of its Bordeaux neighbour into its terroir but benefits from different climatic conditions, such as strong sunshine with very hot and drier summers.
The vines will produce red, white and rosé wines that will be perfectly ripe during the harvest. Its vineyards cover more than 1800 hectares. The red wines are composed of the following grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Semillon and sauvignon blanc represent white wines. The soils are composed of clay, gravel or limestone. The reds are quite dark, sometimes a little purple in their youth but darken with time. They can be aged between 5 and 15 years. The rosé wines take on shades of grey and the whites have emerald tints. Red wines have aromas of red or black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), sometimes candied (prune) on the nose, and depending on the ageing method, vanilla flavours can be found. As they age, they can also lead to animal notes. The freshness of the whites is brought by the sauvignon, with aromatic notes of flowers and roasted almonds, to be tested as an aperitif! The acidity of pink wines suits its red fruit aromas. In the mouth the wine is crunchy, and in its youth it leaves a tannic impression. It is served with red meat as well as game.
