Domaine Des Roches Neuves

Cabrose 2023

Saumur | Pink | 2023

Made entirely from Cabernet Franc grapes grown on 25-year-old vines, this organic wine is distinguished by its meticulous winemaking. The grapes are hand-harvested and then rigorously sorted before being transferred to vats. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, combining 70% pressed juice and 30% saignée (free-run juice). Without malolactic fermentation or added sulfites, this natural wine reveals a pure expression of the grape variety grown on clay-limestone soils, offering a balanced structure and authentic flavors.

Our opinion on the vintage

This wine reveals itself on the nose with intense fruity notes, reminiscent of the freshness of red berries. On the palate, it charms with its silky texture and elegant structure. The vibrancy of the fruit aromas combines with a subtle minerality, a reflection of its clay-limestone soils. Each sip offers a pure and delicate sensation, free from artifice, inviting you to appreciate the finesse of Cabernet Franc in its natural state. Domaine Des Roches Neuves

Domaine Des Roches Neuves

Loire | France

In Saumur-Champigny, the Domaine des Roches Neuves has been run by Thierry Germain since 1992. The estate extends over limestone and clay-limestone terroirs, particularly suited to cabernet franc, as well as chenin for white wines.

Starting in 2002, the estate embraced biodynamic farming, with in-depth work on the soils, vine vitality, and yield control. This approach aims to produce balanced grapes, capable of accurately expressing their origin without artifice in the cellar. Vinification prioritizes measured extractions and a focus on the body of the wine to preserve the fruit and the natural energy of the juice.

The winemaking process is conceived as a complementary tool, chosen to respect the wine's structure and its capacity for expression, without seeking to influence the style. The wines are distinguished by their purity of fruit, their precision, and a sense of controlled tension, while retaining genuine depth.
