Everything You Need to Know About Saint-Chinian
Saint-Chinian is a wine appellation in northern Hérault, in the foothills of the Cévennes. Its terroir is one of the most diverse in Languedoc: schist in the north and clay-limestone in the south, producing two very distinct styles of wine.
The Saint-Chinian reds grown on schist are fresh, refined, and spicy, with lovely minerality. Those grown on clay-limestone soils are more full-bodied and robust. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan make up these blends of beautiful complexity.
