Terra Casta 2021

Saint-Chinian | Red | 2021

Château Castigno has successfully capitalized on the clay-limestone terroir of Assignan, in the Saint-Chinian appellation, with vines over 70 years old cultivated organically. Now managed by Clément Mengus, this blend of Carignan and Syrah is vinified with whole clusters, resulting in a wine with a velvety texture and generous body. A remarkable cellar, shaped like a reclining bottle, enhances the experience with tours and tastings.

Our opinion on the vintage

Upon opening Terra Casta, one is captivated by its deep, brilliant garnet color. On the nose, it gently unfolds, revealing aromas of smoke and candied fruit. On the palate, the wine is a true invitation to pleasure: a round and ample texture accompanies a luscious explosion of ripe fruit. The finish is a blend of vibrant freshness and spice that lingers on the palate, adding a captivating dimension to the whole. Terra Casta offers a harmonious contrast between its fruity and spicy notes, a true delight for the senses.

Château Castigno

Languedoc | France

Located in the commune of Assignan, in the heart of the Saint-Chinian appellation, Château Castigno extends across a protected environment, at the gateway to the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park. The vineyard covers approximately 32 hectares, planted on hillsides reaching an altitude of around 250 meters, in a landscape of garrigue, red soils and limestone formations typical of the area.

The vines, many of which are over 50 years old, are cultivated organically. Vineyard management prioritizes naturally low yields, careful attention to the soil, and hand-harvesting to preserve the freshness and gradual ripening of the grapes. The grape varieties are intentionally diverse, blending historic Mediterranean grapes from the Languedoc with less common varieties, allowing for a nuanced expression of the Saint-Chinian terroir.

Winemaking relies on modern equipment designed for precision without smoothing out the wine's profile: stainless steel tanks, wooden vats, truncated conical and tulip-shaped tanks, complemented by an ... Lire plus
