Our opinion on the vintage

In the glass, this 2023 Volnay village wine displays a bright, crystalline ruby color, light yet elegantly deep, reflecting the clay-limestone terroir of the Côte de Beaune. On the nose, the expression is delicate and refined: ripe cherry, fresh red berries, and a hint of undergrowth mingle gracefully, evoking the first stroll through the vineyards at dusk. On the palate, the attack is supple and ethereal, carried by a vibrant freshness. The wine, with its delicate mid-palate, unfolds into a silky texture where the tannins are more subtle than assertive, coating the fruit with finesse. The nuanced and persistent finish leaves an impression of purity and finesse, inviting both contemplation and conviviality. An expressive and graceful Volnay, charming with its balance and poetry.

Domaine Cauvard

Bourgogne | France

Domaine Cauvard is a family-owned wine estate located in Beaune, Burgundy. It cultivates approximately eighteen hectares of vines spread across several communes in the Côte de Beaune, with appellations such as Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Aloxe-Corton, Corton-Charlemagne and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune.

Production is based on a traditional approach, with attention paid to vineyard work and plot-by-plot vinification to preserve the identity of each terroir. Harvesting may be done by hand or mechanically depending on the cuvée.

I do not have information regarding the year the estate was created, nor the existence of official organic or environmental certifications.
