Located in the heart of the Languedoc region in the Saint-Chinian appellation, Château Fonsalade is a historic estate that has always been committed to producing quality white, red and rosé wines. A unique terroir, an exceptional climate and ancestral know-how are the keys to our wines, which will delight both the discerning professional and the enlightened connoisseur. The Château's name comes from the Occitan "Font Salat", meaning Salt Fountain. It comes from the naturally salty spring gushing up on the property. This particular water has antiseptic qualities and virtues that are essential for environmentally-friendly agriculture. The entire Château Fonsalade team would be delighted to welcome you for a visit and wine tasting in the cellar. So don't hesitate to stop by.
I took over the estate in 2014 with the determination to produce wines that live up to the terroir and the Saint-Chinian appellation. In a style that's perhaps more modern than my predecessors, I'm determined to preserve all the specific characteristics that have made Chateau Fonsalade the wine that has delighted me for years and years.
I've always been convinced that Languedoc wines could compete with the great wines of the Rhône, Bordeaux or Burgundy, while retaining their own identity. To do this, I try every day to get the best out of my old vines of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvedre to obtain a nectar that will delight all wine lovers! I love wine! The entire Château Fonsalade team would be delighted to welcome you for a visit and wine tasting at the cellar. So don't hesitate to stop by. The spring water that flows into our estate is a real plus for our estate and explains the unique quality of our wines.
