The domain's short story
The Domaine de la Gerbelle is the result of a former farm belonging to the Carthusian order. At the time of the separation of the Church and the State in 1905, our great-grandfather, a farmer of the Carthusian monks, bought the estate from the Carthusian monks at an auction in Chignin. He developed mixed farming, breeding and planted some vines. In the 1960's, the domain specializes in viticulture under the impulse of Claude Quenard. In the 2000s, André and Guy, Claude's sons, decided to convert the estate to organic farming. Today, the new generation has arrived at the domain and has already put its personal touch with the launch of a craft brewery activity, also in organic farming. Recently, the wine tourism activity has been developed with guest rooms and tables d'hôte in the old Chartreux farm.
