Cellier des Chartreux 2022

Côtes du Jura | Blanc | 2022

This exceptional white wine is produced in the “en Boivin” vineyard in Montaigu, renowned for its blue, mica-rich marl soils that have been ideal for growing Chardonnay since the 13th century. The winemaking process is characterized by a biodynamic and artisanal approach, with fermentation in oak barrels lasting 36 months. The decision to minimize intervention during winemaking preserves the purity and authenticity of the region’s typical aromas, which are enhanced by aging under a veil of yeast.

Our Review of the Cuvée

As soon as the glass is brought close, its brilliant golden color catches the eye. The nose reveals complexity with subtle notes of walnuts, hazelnuts, curry, and a hint of Comté rind and morel mushrooms. On the palate, the attack is lively, followed by a velvety texture rich in aromas. These aromas mirror the nose while adding smoky, toasted, and spicy nuances. The finish is long and vibrant with energy, featuring a hint of dryness that highlights the toasted dried fruits and aged Comté. This is a wine with character, intended for epicureans seeking finesse and uniqueness.

Domaine Pignier

Jura | France

At their renovated monastery in Montaigu, the Pignier family crafts a precise, demanding Jura wine using strict biodynamic methods. The wines—whether topped up with water or not—display a keen eye for detail: tension, minerality, and structure. Long aging in large oak casks lends a serene depth. In a nutshell: a very pure style. A fascinating estate.
