Domaine du Saut au Loup
Domaine du Saut au Loup is above all the unique story of Éric Santier, a globetrotting Chinon native who returned to the essentials. After years spent in wine export and promotion, first in France and then in Dubai, he decided, in his forties, to change his life and become a winemaker. It was a carefully considered career change, informed by training in Bordeaux and several experiences in other fields.
Taking over the estate marks a double homecoming for him. A return to Chinon, his birthplace, after having lived in Burgundy, the Var region, and Paris. A return, too, to fundamental values: respect for the land, for living things, and for taking the long term. For Éric, winemaking is a comprehensive profession, combining vineyard work, winemaking, knowledge sharing, and human connection.
