Our opinion on the vintage

The wine is pale, with a fine stream of bubbles. The palate is round, ample, and enveloping, displaying a ripe, fine, and fresh character, dotted with very fine, caressing bubbles, in a style more elegant and refined than the postman's bubbles. The finish is harmonious and seamless, merely intensifying the sensations, with notes of quince and orange peel, and lingers on chalk, honey, and candied quince.

At Frantz Saumon, Chenin Blanc takes many forms: sparkling, dry and straightforward, and more enveloping cuvées depending on the vintage. The work in Montlouis and Vouvray is based on respectful viticulture and gentle pressing, resulting in luminous juices. The estate focuses on clear, uncluttered aromatics combined with a supple texture. The wines often gain verticality with a few months of aging, while retaining precise fruit character. The overall impression is one of rigorous simplicity that defines great handcrafted Chenin Blancs.
