The Vignoble des Vernusses produces this red wine made from 100% Gamay/Gamay Teinturier grapes grown on 25-year-old vines in clay-siliceous soil. Adhering to a fully organic approach, the winemaking process is carried out naturally using indigenous yeasts and whole-cluster maceration for 11 days. No sulfur is added, which allows the terroir’s character to fully express itself, resulting in an authentic, unfiltered wine that embodies an environmentally conscious philosophy.

Our Review of the Cuvée

Upon opening, this Gamay offers an enticing nose of fresh, crisp red fruits with a hint of minerality that evokes the clay-siliceous soil in which it is grown. On the palate, its texture is supple and smooth, highlighting the purity of the fruit, enhanced by natural winemaking. The tannins are delicate, almost silky, and the wine unfolds elegantly, leaving a lingering hint of freshness. Every sip is a true invitation to discover the richness and diversity of its unique terroir.

Vignoble des Vernusses

Loire | France

In the volcanic soils of Auvergne, the Vignoble des Vernusses cultivates Gamay and Pinot Noir with a delicate touch, making the most of these dark soils. The wines exhibit a subtle tension and vibrant fruit, often accompanied by a powdery texture characteristic of the region. The winemaking process emphasizes infusion over extraction, resulting in refined, elegant reds with a subtly mineral character. The whites are rounder but retain a fresh character. A winery contributing to the resurgence of Auvergne winemaking.
