Domaine Plageoles

Duras 2020

Gaillac | Red | 2020

This wine is made from the Duras grape variety, native to the Tarn region, and is a benchmark of the Gaillac appellation. Grown on clay-limestone soil with a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare, it benefits from hand-harvesting. Vinification takes place in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by a short maceration and minimal extraction to preserve the fruit's finesse. Aging for one year in concrete vats, followed by another year in the bottle, refines its structure and depth.

Our opinion on the vintage

On the nose, this wine reveals subtle aromas of lightly spiced red fruit, underscored by a delicate floral touch. On the palate, its fine, taut texture offers a beautiful freshness, amplified by mineral notes from its clay-limestone terroir. Vinification in concrete tanks and aging in cement imparts a beautiful harmony between finesse and complexity. Its tannins are silky, and its long, precise finish leaves an impression of pure elegance and authenticity unique to this region.

The winemaking process favors a refined approach, with aging carried out gently so as not to mask the expression of the grapes. The estate's work as a whole offers a clear and faithful interpretation of the Gaillac vineyard, providing a precise understanding of its historical identity and the diversity of
