Domaine Borie de Maurel

The Beautiful Aude

Minervois | White | 2024

This white Minervois, a blend of Marsanne and Muscat à Petits Grains, captivates with its rich and harmonious character. Harvested in the cool of the morning, the almost overripe grapes yield a delicately pressed cuvée. Temperature-controlled fermentation and aging on fine lees in tanks for three months develop complex aromas. Enjoyable with a variety of dishes, it also demonstrates excellent aging potential of 3 to 4 years.

Our opinion on the vintage

Upon opening this charming white wine with its golden hue, the nose is immediately enveloped by toasty notes, mingled with blond tobacco and exotic fruits like pineapple and white peach. The palate is generous and enveloping, with a rich texture that echoes the aromas perceived on the nose, enhanced by a touch of spice reminiscent of gingerbread. Its lively character makes it an ideal companion for meals ranging from fish in sauce to lacquered duck breast, promising renewed pleasure with every sip.

Domaine Borie de Maurel

Languedoc | France

Syrah dominates here without overpowering the other elements: in Minervois, Michel Escande has patiently crafted a style that is ample yet never heavy-handed. The old vines, rooted in the limestone slopes, yield wines with a tight structure, consistent depth, and unexpected freshness. Extended aging refines the contours while preserving a natural spicy character. In short, the estate embodies a certain Languedoc classicism, but a living, thoughtful classicism, focused on precision rather than raw power.
