Maison Ventenac
Located within the Cabardès appellation area, approximately ten kilometers west of Carcassonne, Maison Ventenac is a family estate nestled against the foothills of the Montagne Noire. The vineyard spans approximately 135 hectares and is currently undergoing organic conversion, with particular attention paid to soil management and environmental stewardship.
Under the stewardship of Olivier and Stéphanie Ventenac, the estate strives to achieve a clear and direct expression of Cabardès grapes, a transitional territory between Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. Winemaking practices seek to minimize artificial interventions, by favoring precise aging methods tailored to the specific profiles of each cuvée. Depending on the wine, vessels range from tanks, large-capacity foudres, and amphorae, to refine textures without obscuring the fruit's inherent expression.
Certain micro-vintages, grouped under the Les Dissidents range, are produced in limited quantities and vinified with considerable freedom in terms of classification, whenever this helps preserve their identity. These wines are characterized by clean, straightforward profiles, built on precision rather than showmanship.
All of Maison Ventenac’s work is dedicated to producing distinctive, consistent wines that remain true to their origins, through a masterful technical approach and a constant quest to highlight the interplay between grape variety, terroir, and winemaking.
