Château Bessan

Château Bessan, a magnificent 16th century building, overlooks 14 hectares of organically grown vines. Mathieu Verdier vinifies white, rosé, crémant and red wines.

Our story

My parents took over Château Bessan in 1986, the property was then abandoned. After a lot of hard work, they replanted Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon and Semillon and recreated the winery. 30 years later and after 10 years of winemaking, I took over the estate, planted Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc and reorganized the production and marketing. Aware of the exceptional site we have, we are now turning to wine tourism and developing a magical tasting area called "La Cabane dans les Vignes": a real viewpoint on the richness of our landscape and wine heritage.
