Located in the heart of the garrigue in the south of the Ardèche, we work in organic and biodynamic farming.
In the vineyards, our objective is to promote the life of the soil and the natural defences of the vine through organic and biodynamic work that allows minerality and finesse to express themselves in our wines.
In the cellar, we adopt a less interventionist approach by naturally accompanying the wine during the vinification process to create lively wines that reflect our wonderful Ardèche terroir.
The history of Château de la Selve is above all a family adventure.
My family history predestined me to work in the vineyard, in fact, I count among my ancestors a large family of Rhône Valley winegrowers, the Delas. Since my teenage years, I have spent a large part of my free time working in the cellars and vineyards of the Rhône Valley estates.
This is how, after my baccalaureate, I decided to enter the Beaune wine school in Burgundy, in this region where the notion of terroir is, historically and in my opinion, the most precise and developed.
In 2002, thanks to my parents, I was able to realize my dream: to create this vineyard in the south of the Ardèche where I am sure that the terroir has great potential: its hot sun and cool nights, its wild landscapes, its calcareous soils that smell like scrubland, humus, truffles... !
Château de la Selve was originally a fortified house on the borders of the empire and then the Kingdom of France. It was then the hunting lodge of an illustrious Vivarais family, the Dukes of Joyeuse, before becoming over the centuries a farm and today a wine estate.
