Château du Petit Thouars is located in the Loire Valley vineyards, more precisely in Touraine. Sébastien cultivates 15 hectares of vines in the Saumur and Chinon appellations. Accompanied in the elaboration of his vintages by Michel Pinard, an experienced cellar master, he produces fruity, light and gourmet wines that reflect the terroir of his region.
The estate benefits from a hillside terroir overlooking the Vienne. Their 100% Chenin blanc cuvée in AOC Chinon is particularly characteristic of the estate with its aromas of white fruit and beautiful minerality.
Georges Aubert de Saint Georges was a gentleman from Poitou in the service of the Cardinal of Richelieu. He became Lord of Petit Thouars at the time of the purchase of the château and its vineyard on the advice of Richelieu in 1636. Since then, Château du Petit Thouars and its wine-growing estate have been passed down from generation to generation.
The last generations of the Petit Thouars family, Yves and Marguerite du Petit Thouars and their children Sébastien and Amélie, are just as enterprising as their ancestors at the dawn of the third millennium. Former general manager of Cristalleries de Baccarat, Yves relaunched the vineyard in 1975 and thanks to the passionate work carried out with his wife, the wines of Château du Petit Thouars are awarded and appreciated in Europe and throughout the world, from the United States to China. When Yves and Marguerite died, Sébastien took over the estate with his wife D'Arcy and launched the organic conversion in 2019.
Sébastien had a career in the recording industry before taking charge of the vineyard's commercial development and communication from 2009. A beautiful conversion that has benefited the estate, which is now a must in Touraine, and it is beautiful and well managed by Michel Pinard, oenologist and cellar master. This experienced winegrower ensures the production of quality wines and the healthy treatment of the vine.
