Nestled in its green setting, Château La Louvière seduces by its authenticity. This is where the history of Pessac-Léognan begins, an appellation created under the impetus of André Lurton, the owner of the estate. La Louvière produces high quality red and white wines that are among the most renowned Bordeaux crus.
A magical place where the values instilled by André Lurton and his family are revealed today: conviviality, exchange, respect for the land and traditions.
Listed as a historic monument since 1991, the château was built in the 18th century by renowned architect François Lhôte, himself a pupil of Victor Louis, designer of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux. La Louvière is a place steeped in history. As you contemplate its vineyards, the word "terroir" takes on its full meaning. It's easy to understand André Lurton's passion for this estate, which he acquired in 1965. He undertook extensive work on the château, the cellars and the grounds.
In 2009, the cellar underwent a major modernization to provide the best conditions for the elaboration of wines. You will discover a magnificent underground barrel cellar that resembles a vaulted underground cathedral. In the cellar, the smell of wood mingles with that of the wine. Since the 2019 vintage, Jacques Lurton signs this wine and brings his technical expertise to it; this is a wine shaped with gentleness, driven with vision, steeped in its unique terroir.
