Château Sigalas Rabaud is one of the few wine estates still run by the family in the Sauternes region. Spread over 14 hectares, we are the smallest of the Sauternes Premiers Crus Classés of 1855. Our family is an integral part of our philosophy and we like to welcome visitors as if they were part of it.
We are well aware of the importance of respecting our terroir and its ecosystem. Approved HEV (High Environmental Value) we respect our jewel of a terroir on which we cultivate Semillon and Sauvignon to make our wines.
We are also innovative: thanks to the creation of our two dry wines. The Demoiselle de Sigalas and the Sémillante de Sigalas are our two special vintages. Our latest one is even without added sulphur since 2016: the 5 de Sigalas without added sulphur.
Château Sigalas Rabaud is mainly a family story. It was in 1855 that he was awarded the classification Premier Cru Classé Sauternes. In 1863, Henri de Sigalas acquired Château Rabaud. His only son, Gaston de Sigalas, decided in 1903 to sell most of the estate to keep only the "jewel". The generations succeed one another and it is currently the granddaughter of the Marquise de Sigalas, Laure de Lambert Compeyrot who took over the reins of the estate in 2006.
Laure Lambert de Compeyrot, the current owner of the vineyard, did not come to her position by chance. Indeed, the manager has a solid academic background. After graduating from the renowned Montpellier Supagro, she continued her studies by specializing in the wine sector at the Faculty of Oenology of the University of Bordeaux. It is the one that, among other things, eliminates the use of herbicides and introduces sexual confusion as a substitute for fungicides.
