Château Tour Birol is located in the village of Samonac, in the heart of the Côtes de Bourg AOC, in a region called "la petite Suisse Girondine" because of its very hilly terrain, completely replanted with select grape varieties (Merlot, Malbec) and restructured in the 1970s, the 10 hectare vineyard was acquired in 2010 by Damien and Anaïs Labiche, both descendants of a large line of winegrowers.
Today, the estate covers 35 hectares of a privileged terroir. Indeed, the majority of the vines around the house are planted on hillsides and benefit from an optimal exposure (south/southwest) in a region benefiting from a microclimate providing 10% more sunshine than the rest of the Bordeaux vineyard. This sunshine combined with the clay-limestone soils allows us to create atypical wines that combine roundness and character.
The property was built in 1850 by a Bordeaux archbishop who came to Samonac to escape the French revolution. As soon as they arrived, the religious identified a particularly favourable location for the vine and planted vines to produce their wine.
