ZEYSSOLFF was founded in 1778 in Gertwiller, the village of Le Pain d'épices and a Mecca for Gewurztraminer and the country of Klevener de Heiligenstein. In 1997, Yvan ZEYSSOLFF took over the family business. Since then, the House has been working in integrated pest management to preserve the environment. The House produces the 7 grape varieties of Alsace, Crémant, Klevener de Heiligenstein and some curiosities. The House owns parcels of vines in geologically different terroirs, which allows it to create distinctive wines. The Domaine has an exceptional cellar with about twenty century-old oak casks, each with a capacity of 10,000 litres. In 20154 the House created a "Wine Area" including a shop, a dining bar and a Tea Room. It is also possible to stay in one of the 4 listed cottages within the Domaine.

Our story

The family's presence in Alsace dates back to the 15th century. In 1574, two brothers ZEYSSOLFF, one a lawyer and the other a judge, received a family coat of arms for services rendered to the city of Strasbourg. 1778, Jean-Daniel, a winegrower in Gertwiller, in the heart of the Alsatian vineyard, founded the ZEYSSOLFF House. Since then, the tradition of vine and wine has been passed down from father to son over about ten generations. In 1960, Maison Zeyssolff was one of the pioneering houses for bottling Alsace wines, in 1997, Yvan ZEYSSOLFF took over the family business and in 2005, opened a "Au Péché Vigneron" boutique under the family house. You will find all the ZEYSSOLFF wines, but also a wide choice of fine groceries and local products... enough to make your own gourmet baskets, the House's great specialty. In 2010, opening of a tea room area within the shop. All this in an old vaulted cellar, completely renovated, where soft, calm and voluptuous music mixes. November 2015 marks the opening of a new "Wine Area"... A new challenge for Céline and Yvan ZEYSSOLFF, winegrowers for about ten years, driven by a love of Alsace wines. Eager to pass on the fruit of their passion, Celine and Yvan ZEYSSOLFF have chosen to create an original, cultural and playful place in the old cellar of the House. Between tradition and modernity, this new space showcases objects from the past through a contemporary decoration, where scenography, tasting, shop and wine bar are mixed.

Other little stories

The great curiosity of the ZEYSSOLFF House is the oak barrel made in 1897 and presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900. It is still used today: it has been used to make the Pinot Gris of the House for several generations, and the House offers a Tea Room to spend a Zen moment in the Estate and a bar with planks on weekends to enjoy a glass of wine.
