Domaine de Joy is located in the commune of Panjas, in the western part of the Gers department, in the Occitanie region. We're right in the heart of south-western France, in an unspoilt natural setting that's ideal for the production of our white wines and armagnacs. Our 180 hectares of vines are planted on sandy and clayey slopes facing south and east, ensuring optimal ripening of our grapes. The environment has always been, and still is, a central concern at Joÿ. Since 2019, we have been certified: High Environmental Value (HVE "level 3") for the entire property. Today, this certification is a must. Since 2020, we have 10 hectares of vines planted in Organic Agriculture.
The Domaine de Joÿ has been owned by the Gessler family since 1925. At that time, Paul Gessler decided to leave his native Switzerland to come and settle in Gascony, in the Gers. Then one of his four sons, André Gessler, took over the family property. Today, the 3rd generation, Olivier Gessler, and the 4th generation, Vanessa and Kévin Gessler, produce world-renowned wines and armagnacs. In the Gessler family, the key word is QUALITY: * to produce fruity, refreshing and original wines that go well with all kinds of dishes* to offer our customers exceptional armagnacs Joÿ is not a marketing creation, it is the name of the place where the estate is located, which has been found in notarial writings dating back to the Revolution. The origin of this name probably dates back to the English presence in the region in the 14th century. Our vineyard is located on hillsides in the heart of the Côtes de Gascogne vineyard, on the edge of the Landes forest.
Our wish : May Joÿ bring joy to your family. For the little anecdote, Joÿ comes from the Gascon word " Lou joy " meaning " Joy, to be joyful " in Gascon patois ! Humility, modesty, team spirit, sharing, welcome and passion are the key words at the domain. So, enter the world of Joÿ and see you soon in Gascony !
