We are in the village of Chiroubles, in the heart of the appellation of the same name. The statue present here is that of Victor Pulliat. He is a very important figure for Beaujolais, as he saved the vineyard from phylloxera.
The Chénas vineyard stretches out in a long, narrow strip. It overlooks the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, its famous neighbor. It slopes gently to the west and gradually becomes flatter toward the east, as it approaches the Saône River.
Vineyards located at altitudes above 1,850 meters receive more sunlight than those in traditional wine-growing regions, giving the grapes a more intense flavor and aroma profile.
