Anecdotes from the Estate: I am a winemaker by passion, and the wine I produce reflects me, both joyful and complex... The Estate's Story: I wasn't originally a winemaker, and at 59, I completely changed direction to try and make the best wine possible. My 2016 vintage is my first, and after a difficult season (downy mildew), I am quite proud to present this Juliénas. The Estate's Pride: Located at the lower end of the Juliénas commune, with a granite subsoil on a south-facing slope. The Gamay grape variety is a Beaujolais cru, of course. Hand-harvested, whole-cluster fermentation without added yeast. Manual weeding, Bordeaux mixture, sulfur, horsetail manure, and Silizinc are the only products used. My wine is aged half in barrels and half in movable-ceiling barrels for 8 months to achieve both fruitiness and structure.
