Our opinion on the vintage
Domaine Bott-Geyl
Located in Beblenheim, Alsace, Domaine Bott-Geyl has been run by Jean-Christophe Bott since 1993. The estate now covers approximately 15 hectares spread over several communes, with a fragmented parcel including lieux-dits, a historic clos and several grand crus, including Schoenenbourg, Sonnenglanz or Wineck-Schlossberg.
The vineyard has been managed organically since 2000 and biodynamically since 2002. Work in the vineyard prioritizes moderate yields, careful attention to grape ripeness, and precise soil analysis. Each plot is monitored individually to preserve its natural balance and expressive potential.
Winemaking is carried out with minimal intervention, using long fermentations, often with indigenous yeasts, and patient aging tailored to each cuvée. The estate cultivates all the Alsatian grape varieties, with Riesling taking center stage, but also Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. The desired balance prioritizes tension, depth, and length on the palate rather than immediate impact.
