Mémoire 2023

Alsace | Blanc | 2023

Domaine Dirler-Cadé offers a vibrant cuvée thanks to a harmonious blend of several grape varieties, including Auxerrois, Chasselas, Muscat, Sylvaner, and Gewurztraminer. Vinification is carefully carried out in stainless steel tanks and century-old foudres, followed by six months of aging on lees, which imparts a rich texture to the wine. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from a unique terroir located southeast of Guebwiller and Bergholtz, yielding a flavorful wine with well-defined aromas.

Our Review of the Cuvée

This cuvée envelops the senses with a delicate floral fragrance, where Muscat imparts its fruity and ethereal notes. On the palate, the spectrum of flavors unfolds elegantly, successively revealing the delicacy of Auxerrois, the vibrancy of Sylvaner, and the spicy complexity of Gewurztraminer. Its silky texture and persistent aromas pair wonderfully with traditional Alsatian dishes such as sauerkraut or candied turnips. The nuances of this wine evoke the terroir of the Hautes Vosges, providing a tasting experience full of energy and character. Perfect for a gourmet meal where each bite enhances the unique expression of this cuvée.

Biodynamic viticulture has profoundly reshaped the understanding of terroirs at Dirler-Cadé, particularly for the Grand Crus Kitterlé, Saering, and Spiegel. The estate produces Rieslings of remarkable linearity, where the acidic framework underpins a precise, almost crystalline aromatic foundation. Their Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris demonstrate a rare mastery of residual sugars in Alsace, yielding balanced, never heavy wines. Extended lees aging contributes volume without obscuring the mineral signature of the soils. A key reference point for understanding the diversity of the Bergholtz hills.
