Born from ancestral expertise, this wine is the result of uninterrupted family traditions dating back to 1856. The vines, located in the heart of Beaujolais, benefit from ideal exposure on the Brouilly hill. The Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc grape, indigenous to these ancient alluvial soils, is hand-harvested. The vinification process is characterized by whole-cluster carbonic maceration, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. An eight-month aging period in large oak foudres enhances its aromatic complexity.

Our Review of the Cuvée

Its translucent garnet hue already hints at a promising harmony. On the nose, cherry delicately intertwines with notes of sweet spices, also evoking a mineral sensation, then evolving towards incense and faded rose. On the palate, this wine unfolds with remarkable amplitude, enveloping the palate with a fine and sensual texture. Aromas of candied red fruits interlace with floral and spicy nuances. The rich and complex finish evokes a Rhône Syrah, with hints of raspberry, violet, pepper, and a subtle smoky note. Each sip is an invitation to savor the heritage and passion of an exceptional terroir.

Domaine Bonnet Cotton

Beaujolais | France

Domaine Bonnet Cotton is located on the southern slope of the Brouilly hill in Beaujolais. This family estate, established in 1856, is now managed by Pierre Cotton and Marine Bonnet, who uphold traditional practices while integrating agroecological and sustainable methods.

The vineyard spans 13 hectares across the Beaujolais, Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Régnié, and Fleurie appellations. All vines are organically farmed, with some parcels holding biodynamic certification. The average age of the vines is 65 years, and they are trained in the Gobelet system, with manual harvesting and collection in small crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes.

The wines are naturally vinified, employing semi-carbonic maceration, indigenous yeasts, and minimal to no added sulfur. Aging occurs in barrels for 6 to 12 months, without fining or filtration. The cuvées express the richness of the terroir, yielding fruity red wines,
