The vines, over 50 years old and carefully trained in the Gobelet style on well-exposed granite slopes, produce a refined nectar. Thanks to hand-harvesting and gentle pressing, the wine reveals the full potential of its terroir. With carbonic maceration followed by fermentation in tanks, its aging on fine lees ensures a silky texture, culminating in bottling directly at the estate.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The initial nose reveals subtle aromas of red berries and spices, characteristic of a well-controlled carbonic maceration. On the palate, this wine stands out for its silky texture, a result of aging on fine lees, offering an enveloping and delicate sensation. It displays a beautiful structure, with integrated tannins that highlight the wine’s balance. The finish prolongs this tasting experience, allowing the mineral nuances of the granite soil to come through, lending the wine great elegance.

Domaine de Thulon

Beaujolais | France

Nestled on the hillsides of the Beaujolais region, Domaine de Thulon is located on the site of the former farmstead of Château de Thulon, whose origins date back to the 15th century. Today, the estate cultivates approximately 16.5 hectares of vineyards, spread across the steep slopes characteristic of the area.

After working as sharecroppers for some twenty years, Annie and René purchased the estate in 1987, which at the time comprised 8 hectares of vineyards and the farm buildings. They gradually expanded bottling operations on the estate, laying the foundation for the estate as it is today and passing on their winemaking expertise to future generations.

The vineyard is situated on slopes where mechanization is limited, which means that most of the work is done by hand throughout the year, from vine maintenance to the harvest. This geographical constraint encourages a careful and consistent approach to vineyard management, tailored to the specific characteristics of the Beaujolais terroirs.

The estate follows a sustainable farming approach, ... Read more
