Our Review of the Cuvée
Domaine Sangouard Guyot
The Sangouard Guyot Estate is located in Vergisson, between the rock formations of Solutré and Vergisson in the Mâconnais region. The family’s history dates back to the 18th century, and the estate was modernized when Pierre-Emmanuel Sangouard took it over in 1997 and merged it with the Guyot family’s lands in 2000. The vineyard is managed using sustainable viticulture practices, and some plots are certified as High Environmental Value (HVE).
The estate cultivates approximately 15 hectares of Chardonnay to produce white wines under the Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Mâcon-Vergisson, Mâcon-Bussières, and Mâcon-Villages appellations. Winemaking techniques vary by vintage, utilizing temperature-controlled tanks or oak barrels and aging on the lees. The wines reflect the clay-limestone terroir, exhibiting the finesse, minerality, and aromatic profile typical of Mâconnais Chardonnay.
