Ordovicien 2020

Anjou | Blanc | 2020

Ordovicien is a dry white wine that strongly reflects the character of its terroir. It is made from the great noble grape variety of the Anjou region: Chenin Blanc. The rocky schist-covered slopes give it its distinctive character. Its deep color and aromatic notes of candied fruit (apricot, fig, citrus), along with a bouquet of toasted and smoky aromas, hint at its concentration. The full-bodied, creamy texture on the palate pairs effortlessly with hard cheeses or washed-rind cheeses. A white wine with aging potential, yet already approachable.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The color is golden and brilliant. The nose is delicate and ripe, complex, with notes of pear in syrup, quince jelly, linden blossom, toasted dried fruit, and toasted brioche... From the very first sip, you are captivated by a tension that never lets go. But very quickly, the wine expands, expands, coating your palate with a dense texture that feels velvety, with aromas blending candied white fruits with the toasted notes from barrel aging. The finish prolongs the tension on the palate with added concentration, yet without the slightest astringency: instead, it offers a savory quality verging on the balsamic—licorice, Tahitian vanilla, apple balsamic—and those same toasted notes from the aging process.

Domaine de Bablut

Domaine de Bablut

Loire | France

In Anjou, Domaine de Bablut primarily cultivates Chenin and Cabernet Franc, emblematic grape varieties of the region. The vineyard largely rests on schist soils, which impart a perceptible tension and vibrancy to the wines, evident in both whites and reds.

Vinification processes are conducted with precision, favoring moderate extractions to preserve fruit clarity and structural balance. White wines exhibit vibrant and linear profiles, while reds maintain a clear framework and a measured structure. Aging regimens remain understated, designed to complement the wine's substance without dictating its style.

All cuvées are characterized by an assertive sobriety and natural relief, offering a faithful and legible interpretation of the Anjou terroirs, without seeking artificial effects or ostentation.
