Saumur L'îlot des biches 2021

Saumur | Rouge | 2021

This red Saumur is made from Cabernet Franc grapes grown on Jurassic soils rich in flint and iron. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by destemming and partial carbonic maceration, which helps preserve the fruit’s freshness and finesse. Aging in tanks contributes to the pure and distinct expression of the terroir.

Our Review of the Cuvée

To the eye, this red Saumur reveals a translucent, slightly cloudy purple hue, imbued with mystery. On the nose, it charms with its subtlety, blending floral aromas of violet and peony with fruity notes of gooseberry and a hint of spice. A delicate smoky and iron-like touch rounds out its aromatic complexity. On the palate, it is round and airy, with a soft, velvety texture that gradually gains in density. The finish is lively and offers a rich, elegant mouthfeel, with a return of floral and smoky notes, and a lingering finish of blackcurrant and pepper.

Domaine de l'Enchantoir

Loire | France

Situated on the hill of Puy-Notre-Dame, the Domaine de l’Enchantoir cultivates 15 hectares designed as a living ecosystem: vines, trees, hedges, grasses, beneficial wildlife, and tuffeau soils come together to form a coherent and balanced whole.

The philosophy is simple: a beautiful bunch of grapes makes a good wine. The focus is on manual labor, planting cover crops selected to nourish the soil and strengthen its structure, and harvesting entirely by hand. Interventions in the winery are kept to a minimum to let the grapes and terroirs speak for themselves.

The wines are primarily aged in century-old concrete tanks to preserve their aromatic complexity and supple texture. The wines are lively yet precise, generous without being heavy, with a quiet depth and true clarity.

An estate guided by common sense, a respect for nature, and a commitment to sustainable balance.
